The Spiritual Voice

The Spiritual Voice podcast is a show about spirituality from all walks of life, designed with the inquisitive soul in mind. While we might feature a guest or two with backgrounds in Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, Zen, or Taoism, from priests to psychics, these interviews don’t tread familiar ground. Our goal is to empower self-discovery and personal development by presenting useful practices, techniques, recommendations, and resources from a panoply of traditions, cultures, and sociological perspectives. Mysticism, Sufism, meditation, yogic, mantras & tantric traditions, alchemy, shamanism, divination, ancient wisdom traditions, angels, trance, God/god, art, tarot, psychedelics, minimalism, karma, spiritual pilgrimages, travel, the awakening process, and even a dominatrix are just some of the points of view we’ve brought to listeners interested in exploring how and why they believe what they believe. Host Pol Cousineau, a CPA, Marketing and Technology Expert, and Spiritual Health & Leadership Mentor, asks the big questions, getting his guests to offer up sometimes surprising and always inspiring answers. More people are realizing that we grew up in a box that is called society and our expert guest Julie-Anne Christoph is providing you with clear guidance on how to evolve consciously in these chaotic times. Now we are discovering that being different is really our uniqueness that makes us so special which is part of the gift that we can share with the world. How do we get out of that box to find new ways of being and living?

Everyone has an inner calling that we can pay attention to or ignore. Following through may manifest through what you do outside of the work place which doesn’t have to result in a change of vocation. By nurturing your full self in all aspects of your life you can bring meaning to what you are doing in your work and business.

What we do outside of our work can completely change the way we see the world and ourselves. You can focus on one key area of change in your life which will automatically have ripple affects in all of your life.

As we raise our consciousness we realize that there is way more to life than our own life. We move from a self-centered view to a collaborative view of the world. This influences our relationships with our friends, family and work.

As soon as we can pull ourselves outside of the story to explore different ways and perspectives to look at a situation. When we practice this in one area of our life we naturally use this skill in other areas of our life.

Evolving is all about learning to choose in the moment. Tune in to the interview to learn to use the opportunity of change to truly live the future that you want… now!

People have stress, anxiety and depression because they are projecting themselves in the future or the past. Our guest Jonathan Azu gives you tool to be an observer and detach yourself from the challenging aspects of your life and overcome them to reach a satisfying and beneficial manner. His personal journey had him overcome fear, anger, insecurity and more importantly forgive those who had hurt him.

Together we explore the meaning of the shadow side which are aspects of ourselves that tend to be overlooked. The programming, which can be conscious or unconscious, colors your experience of life and how you respond to situations. These filters can also be referred to as shades of perspective.

Shades of Perspective which is the topic of the hour as well as Jonathan's website (www.shadesofperspective.com) can be brought to light through techniques and practices which ultimately re-empower you.

Inspirational leadership is about radiating our presence, confidence and power which is made possible as you consciously direct your energy, work and attention. As the interview evolves connections with other components of the Spiritual Health & Leadership model are made.. John provides you some practical tools to free yourself from this programming which is mitigating the results which you can achieve for yourself and in your work.

Listen to the interview to get an in-depth understanding of the two primary currencies that exist: time and attention.

Daniel John Hanneman, aka “The BlockBuster”, tackles the topic of claiming your power. The core of the discussion is around claiming your power while connections are made to claiming your power as a healer which is Dan’s specialty. We talk about energy scanning, empaths and aspects of the shadow. We discuss a personal example in which I visited a Casino and felt awful.

What transpired in this Casino visit? Was this an opportunity for growth that I missed? Perhaps, but Dan’s perspective on shadow energy is more profound than a simple yes or no answer. We talk about the interconnection of everyone and how to be present in the flow of life.

If you’ve wanted to feel invisible at one point or another than this interview is for you. Everyone has gifts and there is a way for each person to embrace and share them.

Listen to this interview to take a step forward from Invisible to Invincible to borrow the name of Dan’s Academy.

Win Charles talks about taking charge of your destiny and moving forward with your dreams and aspirations regardless of the obstacles that present themselves on your way is a perfect example of living spiritually, at least in my book.

Our guest is living her life fully as if she is an able bodied person. She manages to take charge of her life regardless of a disability which is caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain. This can be caused by so many events and everyone can have this disability at any stage of her life. When the term able bodied person is used it means being ‘mainstream’ and going through life with people without disabilities.

Win shares her experience of participating in the Kona IronMan Triathlon which taught her how to be in her own body, being her person, learning to say no and how it changed her life. One of the key lessons was the importance of saying no as well as the role of a vision in major life undertakings.

She brings forward an attitude of letting mother nature taking care of the unfolding of events. There is a brief mention of Win’s Women of Wisdom podcast where you can get more insights a behind the scenes understanding of Pol’s journey. Then Win goes into more details as to living a life with a greater mission and how to live beyond the mechanics of ticking off actions from a to-do list.

Win talks about 2 key moments in which she started to smell the roses. One of them was losing her ability to walk and the second was seeing her mother die. She asked for her mother’s approval to write a book about her disability and challenges for which she received approval to do it gracefully. As we continue our conversation the concept of glamorous illnesses is put out there for us to consider the implication this has on people’s lives.

As we get into the core of the interview Win goes into the concept of uncertainties, not knowing and facing life without being able to predict what is next. Who doesn’t face life without the certainty of what will by their next step? Could your life’s event and challenges trigger a journey of soul searching and discovering who you are?

Win’s spiritual journey took her from one religion to becoming atheist to finally find a new religion that speaks well with her. Listen to interview to tune in to Win’s message and what it means for your life.

Technique / Practice for Direct Experience

Win offers you a process to begin writing your first book which will offer you a tool to connect with a deeper mission and purpose for your life.

Open an iPhone notepad and then ask ‘Siri I want to write’. This will type out what you are saying in the notepad. Use this technique to write a page every day. Start with Chapter 1 and then go to Chapter 10.

Start this practice with 20 minutes a day and next thing you know you will be an author.

You can also find a resource Dictate Your Book on Amazon or Audible so that you can use Dragon Naturally Speaking to write a book.

I’m sure that today’s show will bring you many reflections. Our guest Ralph White is the author of the memoir, The Jeweled Highway: On the Quest for a Life of Meaning, which is the first memoir I have read in my life. This interviews gives you an more in-depth look into this man’s life, the state of the world, conscious movements and how all of this relates with your life and how you can live with a purpose that is fulfilling.

As soon as I read the back of the book and the first few pages I was totally drawn in. I found life story and message compelling and extremely relevant to us at The Spiritual Voice. Living a rich life and accomplishing a mission that is bigger than us is a seed that I feel is in each of us, including you.

Our culture is deeply damaging our souls and the biosphere in the Western industrial civilization. We need to have an alternative through holistic ways of life. Ralph gives insights on the emerging Conscious Movement.

Ralph talks about the different challenges and struggles as well as poverty that he faced while moving towards fulfilling his life mission. He made the pursue of mystical truth the priority of his life which is what fueled his choices. Our guest contrasts the current landscape to that of the era of 70s and 80s. The start of Esalen, the Omega Institute and other opportunities which were simply sprouting as well as dismissed as junk during those pioneering time.

When Ralph started the New York Open Center in 1983 everyone thought that it would never work. He relates with everyone that is starting something which can feel as if it will never look at its inception. Although today we face more challenging financial obstacles as well as competition, the world and people in general are much more receptive of holistic projects.

Ralph held the belief that we must transform our culture. Once he came to this realization he pondered on the best strategy to accomplish this. He paints a picture that we are in a time for the struggle of the soul of humanity.

Together we discuss the possibilities for you to access sources of transcendence in the context of our urban landscape. Simply glancing outside of your window to contemplate the sunset can give you access to beauty in our world. The key is to find work that takes you into flow which will bring you completely present in the moment.

Change tends to come from outside of the mainstream culture by individuals that are not burdened by the taboos of religious, philosophical or scientific worldviews. These people follow their vision of what they believe to be important to regardless of the obstacles on their path. Individuals coming into an awakening within themselves will bring meaningful change into the world. Once you start getting responses from other people you get fueled to pursue your vision. Fulfilling work is about the number of lives that you can impact rather than the accumulation of wealth.

Ralph discusses meeting several allies and supporters on his path which may seem like perfect synchronicity. Although from a lived experience the connections could take several years to sprout. There was a lot of unknown when he pursued new paths, friendships, connections and projects. In the moment you really don’t know how everything will unfold.

The conversation evolves into ways we can seize opportunities and the path of truth. Listen to this exciting interview to reflect on your own existential questions.

Adam Farmer is a motivational speaker, production trainer and business coach that specializes in helping budding entrepreneurs realize their small business dreams, empowering them to make their own choices about careers, time and wealth.

During the interview he goes in more depth about his experience at Seminary which led him to have a disdain for mediocre church organizations and the connection between purpose and fulfillment. We talk about the concept of deconstruction, what it is and how your work and service in the world is tied to spirituality.

He discusses the 4 pillars of promise which lead you to live in harmony with the gifts that you were born with and lead a truly successful life making positive impact in the world.

Adam gives you an overview of how to attain fulfillment in your life and achieve spiritual and professional well-being through the 4 pillars of promise.

  1. You have to know your purpose. That is your foundation by which everything else you choose to do is going to be based on. Whatever it is you must feel a clear yes in every part of your being… otherwise it’s not it.
  2. Assess what you are really gifted at doing, what are YOUR strengths. Understanding what you are innately good at doing. This is who you are. you can’t buy this or get this by academics. He recommends you do the Gallup Stress Assessment – Clifton StrengthsFinder (Adam is not affiliated with this assessment and its very affordable).
  3. Create a value statement for YOU. What is the value and contribution that you are going to make to the world? This is what makes you a leader.
  4. Develop your own entrepreneurial dream team because you can’t do this work alone. You have to be able to communication your VISION and MISSION as this will attract the right team to you because they are aligned with what spirit wants you to do.

To find your purpose, Adam encourages you to notice what is causing you to have strong emotional reactions. This can show up watching the news, Facebook, videos, etc.

Regardless of the emotion, this is an indicator that you have solutions inside of you to the problems you are seeing. This is the source of your emotional reaction. When you feel these frustrations daily you should dig deeper because you may have simple solutions to these problems.

He also provides a meditation technique from Eckhart Tolle which is to take 2 conscious breathes. Then do this as many times as possible throughout your day.
